New acquisitions May, June, July

Hello all and welcome newcomers:

This year’s LA Garden Show and the American Public Garden Association Conference are now only memories. Now I’m back to getting new items onto the library shelves and indexing interesting articles in our wonderful magazines and looking forward to Terra-Byte 3.0 on September 14, 2008.

Many thanks go to the Good Family Foundation for their help with our online catalog. It enabled us to pay our 3 interns this summer. Megan Berru, Freda Lin and Lisa Beach have worked hard to bring our holdings in the online catalog to almost 5000 titles with almost 6000 total items. Have a look. It works better and better now when you are searching for a subject.

If you have any questions about using the catalog, please do contact me. Remember we are circulating to Los Angeles Arboretum Foundation members! The circulation period for books is 3 weeks with 2 renewals if no one else wants the item. You can renew by e-mail, phone or in person, but not in the online catalog. The circulation period for current magazines is 3 days with 2 renewals if no one else wants the item. Let me know if you are interested in any articles.

In order for the “Request this title” function in the online catalog to work, I have to set you up as a customer. Then it will send me an e-mail requesting that I get the item for you. If you’d like to be set up as a customer, contact me by e-mail, phone, or in person.
