New acquisitions, August to mid-September

Hello all and welcome newcomers:

Summer is over. Our interns finished their job for which they received funding from the Good Family Foundation. Freda Lin is continuing to help with the project as a volunteer. We now have about 6000 total titles in the online catalog with about 7000 total items. The catalog is looking better and better!

Arboretum Library Online Catalog

This link below is to the new books, articles, and websites lists for August to mid September. I cataloged many medicinal plant books that had never been processed in this library. They are predominately from Central and South America; some in Spanish, but there are also some from other places around the world. I also purchased a significant group from the cactus and succulent book dealer, Rainbow Gardens Bookshop in Tucson, Arizona. Many of those have already made it to our new bookshelf. Yes, the “New Book Shelf” is new too! I finally have a place for you to look at what we’ve been adding lately. Do visit!

New books, articles and website lists

If you have any questions about using the catalog, please do contact me. Remember we are circulating to Los Angeles Arboretum Foundation members! The circulation period for books is 3 weeks with 2 renewals if no one else wants the item. You can renew by e-mail, phone or in person, but not in the online catalog. The circulation period for current magazines is 3 days with 2 renewals if no one else wants the item. Let me know if you are interested in any articles.

In order for the “Request this title” function in the online catalog to work, I have to set you up as a customer. Then it will send me an e-mail requesting that I get the item for you. If you’d like to be set up as a customer, contact me by e-mail, phone, or in person.

Happy reading!
