“Calculating the Carotenoids in a Fall Favorite.” By Marcia Wood (Agricultural Research, October 2005).
This article for the holidays discusses the nutritional benefits of pumpkins. The health benefits of Carotenoids, the most well know of which is Beta-Carotene, have long been studied by researchers, but new discoveries may improve the health of people around the globe.
“Meeting Welwitschia.” By Peter Marren (Plant Talk, January 2005).
This fascinating article describes one of the world’s most intriguing plants. The Welwitschia plant is an unusual Gymnosperm that grows only in the isolated desert regions of Namibia and Angora. This slow growing plant is know to live upwards of 1000 years.
